New Artisans
This week we found two middle aged ladies that live outside of town alone. This is not common here, but because of some religious choices they have made, the husband of one of the ladies and the family of the other kicked them out of the house. They now live together trying to scrape out an income by hand sewing beads onto cloth (earning about $0.50 a day). Art met them through a friend and asked them if they would like to learn how to make our products. He gave them the tools (which they will pay for by making the first couple of pieces) and taught them the process of making the jewelry. They were excited for the opportunity to make a decent income and are picking up the skills quickly. We are thankful that we can bring sustainable work to women in their homes and remind the world that women can. Thank you Worldcrafts for the order that made this possible.
